Who we are

The Consortium of English-language CEGEPs, Colleges and Universities of Quebec is an alliance of nine post-secondary institutions in Quebec: Bishop’s University, Champlain Regional College, Concordia University, Dawson College, Heritage College, John Abbott College, Marianopolis College, McGill University and Vanier College.

This initiative was made possible by funding from the Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois d’expression anglaise and the support of Bishop’s University.

Bishop's University

Why a Consortium?

Quebec is facing a “brain-drain” challenge. Anglophone and English-speaking post-secondary graduates, including those who have grown up in Quebec and speak French, are more likely than their Francophone counterparts to leave their home province and move to other parts of Canada or elsewhere to seek employment.

The establishment of the Consortium of English-language CEGEPs, Colleges and Universities of Quebec, an alliance of nine institutions representing over 140,000 post-secondary students, was spurred by the need to research and address the disproportionately high out-migration levels of English-speaking graduates from our province.

We take pride in the fact that graduates from our English-language CEGEPs, colleges and universities are equipped with the education, skills and knowledge to succeed all over the world. At the same time, each of our institutions is part of a rich community ecosystem. We share a longstanding commitment to building a strong, resilient and healthy Quebec.

The Consortium is pleased to have secured seed funding from the Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois d’expression anglaise and the support of Bishop’s University to explore why so many of our English-speaking graduates choose to leave Quebec in search of employment, and to seek innovative incentives to encourage graduates to stay in the province.
